Cenk Uygur praises Turning Point crowd for welcoming

Co-founder of the Young Turks Cenk Ouïgupraised a Turning Point USA conference for being “more welcoming” to him than the Democrats.

The Uighurs joined TPUSA chief Charlie Kirk on stage in Phoenix, Arizona, during the organization’s annual AmericaFest 2024 conference. Footage from the event shows the progressive media pundit receiving a standing ovation.

During his onstage interview with Kirk, Uygur noted that Republicans do “great coalition work” and are more “welcoming” to other political groups than Democrats. Uighurs criticized Democratic leaders, including Kamala Harris, after Donald Trump’s victory in the November election, for failing to send a populist message to independent voters.

He also encouraged Democrats to “unite” and stop attacking “each other.” Uighurs then said older Democratic voters should stop watching cable news because “they’re trying to get you to vote for corruption.”

CENK: You do an excellent job of merging. Okay, so you do several things, well. You two work well together and are more welcoming, if I’m honest.

KIRK: We’re happy Cenk is here. Okay, everyone?

(CROWD WELCOME)

CENK: And a lot of people on the left know that too. If you agree with MAGA 5%, the response you get is welcome, right? Come join us, right? On the left, if you don’t agree, 5%, they’re leaving, get out of here. You are a right winger. You are a fascist. RIGHT? But if you deport enough people and welcome enough people in, eventually you’ll win the popular vote. This is what I warn them about. And that’s what happened, isn’t it?

(CROWD WELCOME)

CENK: So, look, I came up with some simple rules, the three rules of the Internet. Rule number one. When we disagree, we fight. There’s nothing wrong with that at the moment. New rule number two is that afterwards we have to have a beer together. All right. And rule number three is, for God’s sake, when we agree, let’s unite. So for the left. We have too many divisions. We almost never unite. I don’t mean with the right. I mean internally. The left loves to attack each other. I love you guys on the left. I love you. But every once in a while, when we get a yes, when we agree. Can we please unite? And the second thing we need is for the old people, I’m honest. And on average, not everyone, of course, but for older Democratic voters. Please turn off your televisions there. They lie to you. They are cheating on you. They are trying to make you vote for corruption. They’re trying to get you to vote for policies you don’t even want. So if we can do those two things, then we’ll be in great shape.
