Troy Krenning – Loveland Reporter-Herald

Krenning is the kind of leader Loveland needs

If you take a moment to examine the website advocating for Troy Krenning’s recall, you will see that he alone is responsible for every issue highlighted. In truth, Krenning only has one vote on the board and cannot act unilaterally, despite what the petitioners suggest.

Watch any council meeting and you’ll notice Krenning’s emphasis on efficiency and substance. He doesn’t waste time with unnecessary comments. Instead, he asks thoughtful questions, focuses on issues, and only speaks when he has something meaningful to contribute.

The petitioners say there is overwhelming support for Krenning’s recall, citing the 2,100 signatures they have collected. However, they fail to acknowledge that Krenning was elected with more than 2,700 votes in District 1, defeating his opponent. They claim that the recall respects the rights of these 2,100 signatories, but what about the 2,700 voters who chose it? Don’t their voices matter as much?

There is another troubling aspect to consider. At a council meeting, a council member asked the interim city manager how many people could be laid off if the council approved an audit of Centerra North. The initial audit was estimated to cost $249,000. Still, the head of the petition committee had no problem rejecting Krenning’s offer to resign if he dropped the recall. By overturning the recall, the city could have avoided the $250,000 cost of a recall election. But no effort was made to encourage the committee to spare the city this expense.

We need leaders who evaluate each issue on its own merits and make informed decisions, rather than simply following the crowd. Krenning’s independent and thoughtful approach exemplifies the type of leadership our city needs.
