After the trade with the Cleveland Guardians, Josh and Bo Naylor will no longer continue the story

On Saturday, the Cleveland Guardians traded first baseman Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It was just the latest in a series of moves in the first base market, which began to simmer late this week. When Christian Walker signed with the Houston Astros, it opened the door for Paul Goldschmidt to sign with the New York Yankees. As a result, the D’Backs pivoted to Naylor. The Guardians then went out and signed veteran Carlos Santana, who has been with the organization several times before.

While falling dominoes are fun, it’s not fun to see the Naylor Brothers dismantled in Cleveland. Josh and Bo Naylor were a nice duo for the Guardians, who won the American League Central last season. Since they are no longer playing together, their quest for history will also have to be put on hold.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

mostly home runs in the same game, all-time brothers as teammates:

Justin and BJ Upton, 6 of these games
Jérémie and Jason Giambi, 4 years old
Wilton and Vladimir Guerrero, 4 years old
Josh and Bo Naylor: 3
Tommie and Henry Aaron, 3 years old
Paul and Lloyd Waner, 3 years old

Both men will now have to hope to reconnect as teammates in the future in order to continue their path to the record.

Josh Naylor, 27, was an integral part of the Guardians raced to the ALCS, hitting .243 with 31 home runs and 108 RBIs. All-Star this year, he has become one of the best producers in the American League.

As for Bo Naylor, he hit just .201 but hit 13 home runs. He is only 24 years old and should continue to improve.
