Sandeep Dikshit explains why he chose to fight Kejriwal in Delhi

The New Delhi Assembly constituency in the national capital will be one of the high-stakes seats in the upcoming Assembly polls, witnessing a contest between two veterans. While former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will try to retain the bastion, the Congress has fielded senior leader Sandeep Dikshit in this seat.

He said New Delhi was not a new region for him, adding that the constituency was his political arena.

The former East Delhi MP said the Congress high command believed that it was attached to the New Delhi seat, so it would be better to fight from there, he said while addressing at ThePrint.

“I was connected to New Delhi. When my mother fought elections from her seat, we did a lot of work including preparation and connecting with people,” Dikshit said.

He also said that the other reason why the party removed him from the New Delhi seat is that he has been vocal and critical of Kejriwal’s work and policies. “In such a situation, the party might have thought that its candidature against Arvind Kejriwal could give an edge to the Congress,” he said.

When asked if he had any personal rivalry with Kejriwal, Dikshit said, “There is no difference between personal life and politics, whether it is personal life or political life, he does not There is no difference in your thinking, character and behavior, it remains the same throughout. your life.”

About Kejriwal’s victory over his late mother and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, he said, “Yes, it is true that he defeated my mother in the elections. The defeated person is always remembered. But If you say I hate him or have a personal grudge, then I don’t.”

However, he alleged that Kejriwal “tried to defame my mother, if that is a strategy then she is in a very bad light”.
