Ivy League graduates earn twice the U.S. national average income

The data, released by College Scorecard, part of the U.S. Department of Education, reveals that among the eight Ivy League schools, Brown University graduates have the lowest average annual income, around $93,500. Princeton University graduates receive the best value for their money, with an average cost of just over $8,100 per year during their undergraduate studies, while earning an average of $110,000 per year ten years after obtaining their diploma. While University of Pennsylvania graduates earn a little more — by about $1,000 — their net cost is three times as much.

According to Ivy Coach, an organization that specializes in guiding applicants to top U.S. universities, this data highlights the value of an Ivy League degree in the job market. However, the success of Ivy League alumni is also attributed to their drive and talent.

The Ivy League includes eight private universities in the United States, renowned for their academic excellence, selectivity and prestige. According to the Times Higher Education 2025 University Rankings, Harvard and Princeton are ranked third and fourth in the world, respectively, with most other Ivy League schools ranked in the top 20.
