Delhi schools must not admit wards of illegal immigrants

The Delhi government on Monday ordered schools in the city to ensure that they do not admit children of “illegal Bangladeshi immigrants”.

The government order came days after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) ordered its education department to carry out a verification drive to spot such children in its schools.

“Schools should ensure strict admission procedures and verification of students’ documents to prevent the enrollment of illegal Bangladeshi migrants,” said an order issued by the Directorate of Education.

“Accordingly, all heads of government and DoE recognized private schools, whether aided or not, must ensure that when admitting migrant children into schools, it is essential to follow a careful and careful process to ensure that all necessary documents are submitted, verified and managed correctly,” he added.

The order specifies that in case of doubt, heads of establishments must contact the local police and the tax authorities.
