In August, The Grocer revealed that Deliveroo had prepared to ask delivery drivers to carry out reconnaissance of the restaurants from which they collect orders, by taking phone snapshots of in-store menus.

The aggregator app has updated the terms of its messaging contract to say passengers may be asked to provide “capture (using a smartphone camera) of a requested image , such as a restaurant menu, when they go to a partner’s house.

Deliveroo consulted with the GMB union on the updated terms of service and said riders were free to accept or decline the menu capture “mission”.

The price search activity covers both branded products – including Coca-Cola, Kinder Bueno, Walkers and Stella Artois – and unbranded products, which are mostly supplied by Morrisons.

After helping him achieve his grocery shopping goals, Claire Pointon, Managing Director of Just Eat UK told the grocer the aggregator was now looking to extend the “fun and young” brand into non-food categories. “We’re at the foot of these things and they’re going to grow,” Pointon said.
