British Columbia child finds ‘small razor blade’ in Halloween candy, RCMP say

Police in Kamloops, British Columbia are reminding parents and guardians to check their children’s Halloween candy after receiving a report that a mother found a razor blade in one of her daughter’s treats.

Kamloops RCMP shared a photo of the candy, which appears to be a pink star with a piece of metal protruding from one side.

“The complainant reported that her daughter, who had a party in the Brock area last night, today found a piece of candy in her bag that had been partially opened, and a small razor blade was observed protruding from the candy,” said the detachment. a press release Friday.

“The child immediately informed his mother and the mother notified the police.”

Police said they did not know which house in the neighborhood the candy came from and added that no other similar incidents had been reported.

Reports of candy tampering surface almost every Halloween, but CTV News has not found any reports of children being injured as a result of such tampering in Canada.

Officials advise parents to check their children’s Halloween candy for opened or torn pieces and not to eat homemade treats. When in doubt, throw it away.
