PTI Negotiating Committee Spokesperson Sahibzada Hamid Raza said party chief Imran Khan would continue to urge overseas Pakistanis to withhold their remittances in protest, while expressing his willingness to forgive all the injustices done to him.

Addressing the media outside Adiala Prison alongside other members of the committee on Thursday, he said the former prime minister remained resolute in his position despite the challenges faced by his party.

Raza revealed that under the leadership of Omar Ayub, the PTI negotiating committee met Imran Khan earlier today.

He reiterated that the appeal to overseas Pakistanis to withhold remittances remains active as a protest against PTI’s alleged suppression of rights, suspension of civil and human rights and what it described as the theft of the party’s electoral mandate.

The spokesperson said the PTI aims to conclude negotiations with the government by January 31, 2025, the deadline which Ayub will officially communicate.

He added that Khan expressed full confidence in the KP CM and praised the parliamentarians and workers for their steadfastness against oppression, calling them a matter of pride. The PTI founder also ordered immediate action to resolve the Kurram Agency issue.

Raza presented two main demands from the negotiating committee. First, the formation of judicial commissions to investigate the incidents of May 9 and November 26.

He stressed the importance of investigations by top judges, adding that CCTV footage should be released to identify those responsible for inciting violence during the May 9 riots.

He said the November 26 incident, which left 13 people dead and 64 injured, was an attack on democracy and also deserved a thorough investigation.

The second demand is for the release of party members detained in various prisons across the country, with Raza emphasizing that their freedom is central to the party’s agenda, as is the release of Khan himself.

He clarified that the release of the PTI founder would be achieved through legal and judicial channels, and not through any agreement, and expressed frustration over Khan’s continued detention despite previous court orders for his release , noting that new cases are being filed to extend his imprisonment.

On regional issues, Raza said Khan condemned the recent airstrikes in Afghanistan and stressed that Pakistan cannot participate in any foreign conflict. He urged that all differences with Afghanistan be resolved through dialogue.

Raza concluded by announcing that the PTI would present its demands to the government at a meeting scheduled for the 2nd of next month, reiterating the party’s commitment to finding a constitutional and peaceful solution to all issues.
