Celtics star Jaylen Brown didn’t like that, immediately finding himself facing Williams.

After the game, Brown invoked Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis in a postgame interview when asked if he thought Williams intentionally fouled Tatum.

“What are we talking about? Are you all seeing the same room as me?” Brown said, ESPN News Services. “He hit it like it was a football game. Like Ray Lewis was coming up the middle or something. That’s what it is. Grant knows better than that.”

Brown also added: “Actions speak loudly. It is what it is. We won, we move on. But there’s no room for that in the game. I thought JT and Grant were friends…I guess not.”

Williams spoke with NBC Sports Boston’s Kayla Burton after the game and said he wasn’t trying to hurt Tatum. He admitted it was a “serious mistake” but said it was unintentional and that Tatum was one of his “closest friends” in the league.

Regarding Brown, Williams said: “JB kind of made it worse, but I understand he’s trying to protect his teammate. But he’s (Tatum) my dog. No matter what I support him. … No malice or problem with that.”

Tatum did not speak to reporters after the game, according to ESPN.

As Brown noted, however, the Celtics got the win and will move on. Tatum scored 32, Brown added 25 and the defending NBA champions improved to 5-1. The next meeting on the road with the Atlanta Hawks is Monday night.
