An upstate food and beverage hub is set to be replicated near the coast.

Four Oaks Real Estate Groupthe company behind Greenville’s Gather GVLreceived approval from Town of Mount PleasantIt is Commercial Design Review Board on October 30 to move forward with a 5.5-acre park anchored by a restaurant and brewery.

Gather MTP will be developed within the mainly residential neighborhood Downtown development between Rifle Range Road and Hungry Neck Boulevard.

Mack Crossco-owner of Four Oaks Property Group with his father, Doug Crossplans to further include a medical center, small restaurants and stores that would stretch from Hungry Neck to Hancock Street in a figure-of-eight design.

“It’s a place where our families can get outside and have fun in a family-friendly place,” said Cross, a Mount Pleasant resident. “Kids can be kids, adults can also have a great time with a wide variety of food and drinks and a live music program.”

The East Cooper location will be Crooked’s fifth location, including an existing outpost in Myrtle Beach.

The Crosses first presented their plans to the board in April and have had a history of success in strengthening their proposal. This year, Gather GVL was ranked the fifth best food hall in America, according to the The United States today Readers’ Choice Awards.

The main difference between the concepts is the addition of more retail and office space in the Mount Pleasant version.

Another Four Oaks Property Group development in Simpsonville has these elements, and Cross said it was done so well that he decided to include them in the Gather MTP plans. Although he has not yet found all the tenants, several have already expressed interest in joining the team.
