Eat more often to lose weight: here's how it works

Weight loss is often associated with eating less and burning more calories in general. But can eating more frequently help you lose weight? While this may seem counterintuitive, it actually comes in handy when you’re trying to avoid unhealthy snacks between meals. This New York council dietitian Natalie Rizzo may make sense for people who eat healthily but snack on cookies or chips to satisfy sudden hunger cravings.

Even though weight loss has become a worldwide obsession, not everyone really knows how it works. Rizzo has a different and perhaps valid point of view. Rizzo explained to the New York Times why wellness enthusiasts should eat more frequently to lose weight.
Rizzo noted that it was necessary eat frequently to avoid reaching a stage of ravenous hunger where we indulge in biscuits and chips to fill our stomachs without thinking much about it. She said that eating throughout the day can keep you from feeling hungry and mentioned that although caloric intake is important, it is important not to be hungry.
In his column for Eating Well last week, Rizzo said: “Timing is key. If you can’t snack at the same time every day, try eating a meal or snack every three to four hours to avoid snacking. feeling of hunger“.

Rizzo referenced a 2022 study that mentioned that consuming a consistent amount of calories at regular intervals can increase weight loss success. She explained that eating at regular intervals will give enough time to digest the food and at the same time there will not be a long gap between two meals that will make you hungry.

Is grazing really useful?

Eating frequently or taking regular breaks is called grazing, but it has both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to weight loss. There is a risk of overeating and this can lead to weight gain.
If done conscientiously, it can prevent a person from overeating when hungry and allow them to eat only a proportionate amount.

The benefits of eating frequently

With the concept of eating frequently, hunger is reduced in the human body and in this case, one can only opt to eat smaller quantities, and this can help your blood sugar levels to be stable, thus avoiding the feeling of hunger, which leads to overeating.
Studies also prove that eating frequently will boost the body’s metabolism, allowing it to digest food and your body will burn more calories.

The disadvantages
