GMX will strengthen Ghana’s creative arts sector – Egyapa Mercer

The Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has said the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) streaming platform will enhance the creative arts sector.


The Ghanaian music industry took a significant step forward on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with the launch of the first music streaming platform Ghana Music Xperience (GMX).


The event, held at the De Iconic Events Center in East Legon, was graced by entertainment industry players and government officials.


Notable participants included the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, and the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwesi Agyeman.


Addressing the gathering, Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer said: “Music is the pulse of Ghana, a medium through which we convey our heritage, our resilience and our unity. »


He continued: “With GMX, we are not only strengthening our creative arts sector, but we are inviting the world to experience the cultural richness of Ghana. This platform aligns perfectly with our goals to boost the arts sector and engage global audiences.


GMX offers its users a range of innovative features designed to enrich the musical experience. With early access to new releases, behind-the-scenes videos, artist interviews and historical Ghanaian content, the platform offers a unique insight into the country’s musical evolution.


An AI-based recommendation system tailors music suggestions to users’ tastes, while social media integration allows fans to easily connect and share playlists.
