Ely Farm Animals Ready to Eat Leftovers Fall Decor

ELY, Iowa (KCRG) – Two farms in Ely are accepting pumpkins and other leftover fall decorations to feed the animals.

RoyAn Ridge Farm accepts pumpkins, squash and mums for the goats. However, painted/decorated pumpkins and hay bales cannot be accepted for goats.

The farm also asks people dropping off items not to feed the goats.

Items can be dropped off in the orange cart at the bottom of the driveway at 2021 Rogers Creek Road in Ely.

“The whole month of November,” says Jaime Allard of Royan Ridge Farm. “I know there are a lot of people who like to leave them out during Thanksgiving, so we’re going to bring out the cart. As long as they’re available until November, you can drop them off.

If goats aren’t your thing or you have more pumpkins to share, the elk ranch just down the street also accepts pumpkins and mums for the animals to eat.

“We will also take bales of hay and straw as well as your corn stalks. “So if there are corn stalks, just make sure there’s no wire on them.” said Emily Thuerauf of Antler Ridge Elk Ranch. “You’re always welcome to stop by and see them.” We have them right next to the driveway.

Items can be dropped off for the elk in the yellow wagon at the end of the driveway at 194 Rogers Grove Road in Ely.
