Las Vegas hosts its first-ever full marathon, attracting more than 6,300 runners

More than 6,300 runners took part in the first-ever Las Vegas Marathon on Sunday.

This event brought a premier full marathon experience, 26.2 miles, back to Las Vegas.

There was also a 13.1-mile half marathon and a 7.02-mile race focusing on the local 702 area code.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman issued a proclamation covering highlights from Vegas residents on race day.

Meow Wolf presented the official post-race party and finish festival on Fremont Street.

Five of the top nine were local runners.

Marathon champion and Las Vegas resident JJ ​​Santana completed the 26.2 miles in 2:25:02.

Ishmael Anguiano, who was second, completed the course at 2:28:47, followed by Cody Poskin who came in third at 2:30:45.

The women’s marathon champion was Ashley Paulson, who finished in 2:45:09, followed by Las Vegas resident Josie Riggs, who finished in 2:45:11, and Jacquie Cooke who finished the race in 2 :53:42.

In the men’s half marathon division, the winner was first place Paul Soriano, who finished with a time of 1:14:07, Brady Grayson came second in 1:16:33, followed by Jerome Bernard who came third in 1:17:23.

Las Vegas resident Ellie Stevens led the women’s division with a time of 1:14:23 and Sylvanna Toledo was second with 1:23:24, with Libby Thompson in third place with a time of 1:28:30.

Las Vegas is home to all first place winners in the men’s, women’s and gender divisions of the 7.02 race.

First up is Mason Tope with a time of 35:06, second is Katarina Tadich who finished in 42:53, and third is Ricardo Castillo who led the gender division with a time of 1:07:43.

The top finisher in the wheelchair division of the marathon was Emmanuel Ortega with a time of 3:25:42.

Eric Eblem placed first in the wheelchair half marathon division with a time of 1:32:12.

Steven Bugarin placed first in the multi-gender marathon division with a time of 3:01:58, followed by second and third place finishers Carlos Pinto and Lowell Wilkinson.

The full marathon started at Red Rock Canyon and ended on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.
