LHU women’s wrestling sees success in Princeton open as season kicks off | News, Sports, Jobs

PRINCETON, NJ – The No. 17 Lock Haven girls wrestling team opened the 2024-25 season at the Princeton Open on Sunday, November 3. Azariah Moore and Alyssa Favara took home the honors with 180 and 207, respectively.

Moore won first place with a 180 after a perfect 2-0 day accumulating a technical fall and a pin.

Moore opened the day with a pin in the semifinals in 4:42 before defeating Eliana Eats of Cornell by technical fall, 13-0 (2:37).

Freshman Alyssa Favara went 4-0 to win gold at 207 recording three technical falls and a pin.

Favara opened the day with a pinfall in 51 seconds before recording two technical victories to advance to the final. Favara defeated Presbyterian’s Ella Beam in the final by a technical score of 10-0 in 3:21.

Nationally ranked – 9th – Lily Sherer finished second with 131. She went 3-1 on the day with two techs and a pin. Sherer fell to Cassia Zammit of Presbyterian in the final.

Summer Batts and Avry Ryhal both finished third. Batts went 3-1 with two pins and a tech at 103. Batts won by technical fall, 15-4 (4:15), in the third-place bout. Ryhal went 5-1 with two techs and a pin. Ryhal defeated Kiki Tuttle in the third-place bout by a 14-4 technical fall in 5:33 at 160.

Jayleah Pletz and Trinity Monaghan both finished fifth. Pletz went 4-2 with two pins and a tech to place fifth at 124. Monaghan went 3-2 with two techs and a pin at 207.

Paige Jackson finished sixth with a pin and technical fall.

Isabella Devito, Lucy Maris and Lindsay Laws all placed eighth. Devito went 3-2 at 131 with two pins and a tech. Maris went 2-2 at 131. Laws finished 2-2 with a pin and tech.

The Bald Eagles will travel to Adrian College on Sunday, November 10 for the Adrian Open. The action starts at 10 a.m.
