Kerala government to examine creation of controversial WhatsApp group for IAS officers

The Kerala government will look into the incident involving the controversial creation of a WhatsApp group for Hindu IAS officers, state Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said on Monday (November 4, 2024).

His statement followed a complaint filed by an IAS officer with the police, alleging that his personal WhatsApp number had been hacked and used to create a religious group.

Responding to the controversy, Mr Rajeeve said the Kerala government would investigate the formation of a panel specifically for Hindu IAS officers.

Describing the incident as “serious”, he said community divisions are of great concern.

Code of Conduct

“The government will look into this matter. There is a general code of conduct for officers of the IAS, which comes under the Department of Public Administration. We are currently looking into the situation. Let us examine and determine what needs to be done,” a he told journalists. New Delhi.

The controversy arose after an IAS officer filed a complaint with the police, claiming that his personal WhatsApp number had been hacked and used to create a religious group. He filed a complaint with the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, demanding an investigation into the matter.

In the controversial WhatsApp group, officers from various communities were added and the group was termed as a Hindu community group, a source close to the officer said.

Noticing this, the police officer immediately filed a complaint and dismantled the group. In his complaint, he said he did not add any agents to the group in question. The incident took place three days ago, according to sources.
