Jimmy Kimmel Delivers Election Closing Speech: ‘Move On’ With Trump

Jimmy Kimmel made his “closing argument” ahead of the 2024 election on his eponymous late-night show on ABC on Monday.

In it, delivered at the end of his monologue on Monday, he urged viewers to “move on already” Donald Trumpwhich he compared to a “cancerous polyp” on “our collective national colon.”

By telling people to vote, Kimmel painted a picture of a future in which the Republican presidential candidate no longer dominates the news cycle.

“Forget which side you’re on. I want you to just take a moment to imagine a world where you wake up in the morning, you watch the news and no one says the words ‘Donald’ or ‘Trump,'” he said. “Just a bunch of normal, boring stuff.” Wouldn’t that be nice? No lawn signs. No red hats. No arguing with your grandfather. You check the sports, Al Roker does the weather, you go to work.

Earlier, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host recapped memorable moments from the Trump and Harris campaigns this weekend and, just like his fellow late-night hosts Seth Meyers And Stéphane Colbertlamented that close polls show that “no one knows anything!”

Although Kimmel acknowledged that, like pollsters, he “doesn’t know anything,” he said that “Team Harris seems to have gained momentum” the weekend before Election Day.

Noting how Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Dick Cheney have all expressed support for Harris, Kimmel joked: “Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader: that’s one hell of a rebel alliance.” »

As for Trump, Kimmel picked out a few choice moments from a weekend of rallies, including the former president speaking about having guns pointed at Liz Cheney, that he “shouldn’t have left” office after losing the 2020 election, claiming the polls didn’t support it. It should be illegal and, while talking about bulletproof glass at his rallies after the assassination attempt on him in July, he doesn’t mind if people shoot up in the media.

Kimmel also highlighted “explosive sound” published by The daily beastin which Jeffrey Epstein, speaking to Michael Wolff, claims that he was “Trump’s closest friend for 10 years.”

Beyond that, Kimmel summarized: “Epstein said Trump told him he liked to have sex with his best friends’ wives. To the point where Epstein described Trump as having no moral compass. Do you know what kind of thug you have to be for Jeffrey Epstein to say you have no morals? It’s like R. Kelly getting mad at you for leaving the toilet seat up.

And Kimmel was shocked that the audio didn’t make more headlines.

“It barely moves the needle,” Kimmel said. “Remember that Mitt Romney fell because he put a dog carrier on the roof of his car? We just heard Jeffrey Epstein say for a hundred hours that he and Trump were best friends. I didn’t even get an alert about it on my phone. I haven’t received any text messages about this.

Earlier, Kimmel compared the anxiety of finding out who the next president is to “waiting for the results of a biopsy.”

Regarding the polls, Kimmel said: “There are only two choices. You have a 50 percent chance of being right. It’s not like you picked the Trifecta at the Belmont Stakes. There is no magic involved. It’s heads or tails. In the end, the pollsters who got it wrong will quietly disappear – the rest will say, “I told you so, one percent!” What did you tell us? You called 800 losers who didn’t have enough sense not to answer an unknown call. That’s all you did.

Later, he added: “We don’t know anything. But we let these polls dictate whether we want to vomit or not. It’s stupid. We are stupid. And the day after tomorrow we will find out how stupid we are!
