We will be able to enjoy the sun today, which we won’t see much of again until next week.

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Overnight rain showers have pushed eastward and will move toward our area later this morning. Meanwhile, clouds also dissipate behind the showers. Where the weather was clear much of the night, temperatures fell cold into the 20s. Other areas with rain and clouds kept temperatures in the 40s. will warm today, but it is the western regions which will experience the greatest increase. Sunday and breezy west-northwest winds will contribute. Later today, most of the area will see highs in the mid to upper 50s. Some could reach 60° in the southwest.

During the night, clouds will strengthen from the west. We will also begin to move moisture into west-central and southwest Nebraska. Temperatures will fall back into the 30s this evening and some of the rain to the west will attempt to turn into snow. This will continue through Wednesday with lighter rain spreading eastward. The further east you go on Wednesday, the lower the chance of rain. Meanwhile, to the west, some accumulating snow will be possible, mainly west of Highway 83. An inch or two would be possible, but this will depend on temperatures, as it will likely be in the mid to high upper 30s. The closer you get to the Colorado border, the more likely you are to pick up an inch or two of snow. This will continue on Wednesday evening. Wednesday will be a cooler day across the region. Highs will range from the upper 30s in the west to the mid/upper 50s in the east.

Thursday could be a chance to see some sunshine in an otherwise gloomy stretch of weather between Wednesday and Saturday. Rain chances are very low, but not zero on Thursday and will be mainly in the south or southwest. Highs on Thursday will be a bit chilly in the mid to upper 40s to lower 50s. Friday could be slightly warmer with highs in the upper 40s to upper 50s. It will be warmer to the north and northeast, away from the approaching system. Chances of rain will be present Friday, but will increase late Friday and Friday evening as the main system arrives from the south and southwest. Much of the area should see some decent moisture Friday night into Saturday before the system dissipates late Saturday and Saturday night. Temperatures will remain cool Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s.

Warmer weather will return at the start of next week with warmer temperatures and more sunshine. Highs will be mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s on Sunday and Monday, Veterans Day.
