Felicity Altiman is a dreary 42-year-old Sudbury girl who lives in a dirty, marginal part of society.

It’s a world marinated in violence, alcohol and drugs. In this particular environment, situations can degenerate quickly.

And south they went on December 25, 2020, to a room in a flea market hotel absurdly called the International. Altiman was a frequent traveler at the hotel.

Robert Keskinen was a resident.

VICTIM: Robert Keskinen.
VICTIM: Robert Keskinen.

The day after Christmas 2020, relatives discovered his lifeless body sculpted in a mosaic of blood. The autopsy revealed he had been stabbed more than 100 times.

And in a twisted move, his sexual organs had been mutilated.

Altiman? She now finds herself in a world of hurt. She was found guilty of second-degree murder Thursday after the jury deliberated for a day. She now risks spending the rest of her bad life in prison.

We will probably never hear from her again.

I couldn’t help but contrast the sordid implosion of Altiman’s life with the more familiar monsters that are our eternal nightmares.

Count schoolgirl killer Paul Bernardo among them, as well as Ted Bundy, killer clown John Wayne Gacy and billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Their depravity is perpetuated on television, in podcasts and in newspapers.

Epstein, 66, was held in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Five years later, I’m still writing about him.

Two weeks ago I interviewed Julia Phillips who was sexually assaulted by the evil financier decades ago.

Jeffrey Epstein cherished the secrets of the rich and powerful the same way my old pug Bodger coveted his special bone.

He was back in the news Thursday when another former model claimed Donald Trump groped and touched him sexually while Epstein watched. She said the two men were playing a “twisted game”.

The Trump team countered that the latest allegations were made by someone who is “a former Barack Obama activist.”

Epstein, who raped hundreds of underage girls, has eternal infamy.

Even his second banana, former lover, groomer, teen recruiter and sometimes participant in threesomes with underage girls, Ghislaine Maxwell, was a footnote this week.

Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, right, was back in the news via Kamala Harris supporter Laurene Powell Jobs.

Maxwell, 62, is serving a 20-year sentence in a federal prison in Tallahassee. Photos emerged of Maxwell with tech widow Laurene Powell Jobs’ portfolio, Vice President Kamala Harris, of the couple lounging in bikinis.

The disgraced worldling is also plunged into eternal infamy.

This week, serial killer Gacy, whose reign of terror in 1970s Chicago left at least 33 young men and boys, also left his killer’s sarcophagus. Twenty-six were buried under the crawl space of his suburban bungalow.

Every year, new developments arise regarding Gacy – who received the grand adios in 1994 – and there remain five unidentified victims. I’ve interviewed men who escaped his clutches long ago, cops, lawyers and countless others.

And now actor Jack Merrill has written that he was kidnapped and raped by Gacy. There will be more stories in the months and years to come.

Gacy remains the embodiment of nightmares.

This is not the case for Felicity Altiman, who was a frequent drinking companion of her victim. When he passed out from excessive intrusion, she stole him.

She will have to serve at least 10 years in prison before she can apply for parole.

Monsters like Gacy, Epstein, Bernardo and Bundy are frightening anomalies. Rare even in the neon slime of crime and on the margins of society.

Felicity Altimans are much more common.

Their banality makes them all the more terrifying. It’s unlikely he’ll meet a Gacy. On the other hand, an Altiman constitutes a more likely interaction.

And it’s pretty scary.
