Traffic curbs for Chhath Puja in Gautam Budh Nagar

NOIDA: In view of the Chhath Puja festivities, the Gautam Budh Nagar traffic police have announced diversions for hassle-free vehicular movement in the district, officials said on Tuesday, adding that traffic diversions will be in place from November 6 to 8. impacting heavy and medium heavy goods vehicles. Light vehicles can also be redirected to alternative routes if necessary.

Some of the key locations facing traffic diversions during the period will include Kalindi Kunj Road, Noida Stadium Sector 21A, Chotpur/Behlolpur, Hindon Bridge and Kulesara. Traffic police have advised commuters to plan alternative routes during this period.

“During Chhath Puja, we are expecting high traffic volumes in certain areas and hence traffic diversions will be in place from Wednesday to ease traffic flow and reduce traffic jams. We ask commuters to use alternative routes and cooperate with traffic personnel. Our team will be on the ground to assist and manage any disruption, and for assistance, citizens can reach us through the roadside helpline at 9971009001,” Yamuna Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Noida.

The affected routes will include the Kalindi Kunj route from Mahamaya flyover to Sarita Vihar via Delhi, where traffic may be affected for vehicles traveling to and from the city. Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, a central location for Chhath celebrations, will also see diversions affecting both local and through traffic, Gautam Budh Nagar police said.

Additionally, Chotpur and Bahlolpur in Sector 63 will be subject to restrictions affecting vehicles in the region. Finally, the Hindon Bridge in Kuleshara will have diversions for traffic between Surajpur and Phase 2, with potential impacts on heavy and light vehicles.

As per the traffic plan, traffic coming from Greater Noida will be redirected at Charkha roundabout, which takes vehicles towards Delhi via DND Skyway (Delhi-Noida Direct) and Chilla Road. If the volume increases, light vehicles could be routed in the same way, the traffic police said. For vehicles coming from Sector 37 on the Mahamaya Flyover route, a diversion will be put in place at Gaushala roundabout, directing traffic towards Charkha roundabout.

Similarly, traffic coming from Surajpur towards Phase 2 via Hindon Kuleshara Bridge could be diverted at Kachchi Sadak T-point to follow the route towards Kisan Chowk, depending on the congestion level.

The authorities as well as various local and cultural committees are putting in place extensive arrangements to ensure that worshipers have a seamless experience.

The celebration is expected to attract thousands of devotees, with the overall attendance expected, including visitors, to exceed lakhs.
