Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson undercard changed fight after fight canceled a week before Netflix showdown

Undefeated rising prospect Lucas Bahdi has a new opponent on the undercard in Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson.

The 17-0 Canadian puncher knocked out Most Valuable Promotions prodigy (MVP) Ashton ‘H20’ Sylve in the Paul vs. Mike Perry undercard in July and was expected to return to action against Corey Marksman on November 15.

However, the 24-year-old pulled out of the fight due to injury.

Marksman, an untested 10-0-1 boxer from Florida, was replaced by undefeated Italian welterweight champion Armando Casamonica (14-0), in what appears to be, at least on paper, an upgrade. level.

The rest of the bill remains unchanged with fight night in just over a week.

Bahdi will be relieved that MVP was able to find him a new opponent so quickly.

Tyson against Paul is shaping up to be one of the most watched fights of the 21st century and is a great platform for talented newcomers like him.

The full card is streaming live and free on Netflix for existing subscribers and will be the streaming giant’s first live sporting event.

Netflix had more than 282.7 million paying subscribers in the first quarter of 2024, and that number is expected to grow as the fight draws closer.

All those eyes bring in big money, of which Tyson and Paul should get the lion’s share.

The estimated fight purse for the main event is $80 million, split equally between both men.

But they are likely to earn more through endorsements and bonuses.

Paul vs. Tyson takes place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Money is a nice motivator, but it’s not the main motivation driving Tyson, 58, to return to the ring.

At least, that’s what he told talkSPORT last weekas he said: “The sky is the limit. That’s mainly why I do these things because I want to be the greatest fighter in the history of fighting.

“That’s my goal in life, that’s what motivates me. I want to be the greatest fighter in the history of life.

“It motivates me more than money, to be the greatest fighter since the beginning of life, it lasts forever.”

The fight drew negative reactions from several members of the boxing fraternity.

While Tyson is two years away from getting a free bus pass, Paul is in his prime at 27 and unlike his opponent, he has been actively competing in professional boxing for five years.

Most think the outcome is a foregone conclusion, but that won’t stop millions from joining the fight.
