In the battle between horses and rams, the equines take this victory

Police must approach their work in different ways every day and they must think on their feet. That’s exactly what the Toronto authorities are saying, Canada did so after spotting an allegedly stolen truck. Not only did they surround the Ram pickup truck, but they did so using mounted police. Today, two suspects are in jail and facing multiple charges.

The first lead in the case came from an automatic license plate reader, which reported the Ram like a stolen vehicle. The mounted police officers were the first to attempt an interception, but the driver, later identified as Johnathan Desrosiers, 33, allegedly escalated the encounter by ramming one of the police horses and then crashing into two police vehicles before attempting a hasty escape.

As he attempted to leave the area via another route, other officers arrived and he drove the truck to a local business. Authorities chased one suspect down the road and arrested a second suspect in the Ram itself. The horse and the police officer struck by the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The video shows the frantic situation as the driver tries to find a way out. Ultimately, they fail to control RAM as it takes on a company called Little Burgundy.

Desrosiers now faces fees including “injury to certain animals, dangerous operation of a vehicle, common nuisance/endangering lives or public safety, two counts of mischief/damage to property over $5,000 and four counts of “charge of assault against a peace officer with a weapon”, according to the National Post.

The passenger in the vehicle, a woman named Cedar Nicholas, faces two charges, including theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Each of them was out on bail when the incident occurred. Toronto police are hoping anyone with video evidence of the crime will come forward to help with the investigation.
