Another 40 new speed cameras have been turned on in Brampton and INsauga.com shows where they are so you can help keep the roads safe while avoiding costly tickets.

By the end of the year, the city plans to have 100 new automatic speed enforcement (ASE) cameras operational with 20 will be put online in September and 40 more active Wednesday.

The cameras are located in Brampton’s community safety zones and will become commonplace on city streets as the city moves closer to its goal of bringing 185 cameras online by the end of summer 2025.

Fines for speeding in a community safety zone increase depending on the speed of the driver. The lowest rate is $5 per kilometer plus fees for drivers traveling 1 to 19 km over the limit, up to $19.50 per kilometer.

The improvements allowed the city to spend some $1.9 million on its new ASE processing center, $91,000 for technology and new hires, and $300,000 for a truck dedicated to installation, moving and the removal of ASE signaling.

But those costs are expected to come back since the new ASE facility will generate some $30 million in revenue annually with projected annual expenses of $13 million, according to the city.
