3 Pennsylvania congressional elections still uncalled as Republicans struggle to maintain slim House majority

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Three U.S. House runoff elections in Pennsylvania were not called Wednesday by the Associated Press, as vote counting continued and Republicans struggled to maintain their slim majority in the House. Bedroom.

A majority in the House would give the Republican Party total power in Congress, alongside President-elect Donald Trump in the White House.

In Pennsylvania’s three uncalled races, the Republican candidate held a slight lead, with a few votes still outstanding and two Democrats conceded.

One uncalled race was the one in a district in Allentown, eastern Pennsylvania, where Democratic U.S. Rep. Susan Wild conceded her mandate to Republican Ryan Mackenzie.

Mackenzie is a member of the State House of Representatives. Democrats hold a slight registration advantage in the district, but its narrow political divisions have made Wild a perennial target of Republicans.

Also uncalled was a race in a northeastern Pennsylvania district around Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, where six-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright conceded to Republican Rob Bresnahan, running for first timer and developer who runs a family construction business.

Bresnahan claimed victory early Wednesday morning.

Democrats hold a slight registration advantage in the district, but voters there supported Trump in the 2020 presidential election, making Cartwright one of five Democrats running for re-election nationally in a Trump district.

The other uncalled race is in southern Pennsylvania, where Republican Scott Perry is seeking a seventh term in his Republican-leaning district around the cities of Harrisburg and York.

Janelle Stelson, a longtime local news anchor and Republican-turned-Democrat, is challenging him.

Perry was chairman of the Freedom Caucus, a hardline faction of conservatives, and was the only lawmaker to have his cellphone seized by FBI agents investigating the network of Trump loyalists who were central to his bid to stay in power in 2020 .Perry was not charged. with a crime.
