The HP master plan includes six new buildings at the East Vancouver site; the city will review the application next year

“HP’s deep ties to the community, developed over nearly four decades, have given the company the confidence to continue to grow with the City of Vancouver as it moves forward with the development of the last major strip of vacant land currently within the City’s urban growth limits in Section 30,” the document states.

Section 30 covers a square kilometer in east Vancouver that municipal authorities are transforming into a neighborhood offering places to live, work and play.

HP’s new master plan shows a proposal for six new buildings interspersed with open space and plazas on the HP East property.

“HP’s planned new campus is a strong statement about the company’s long-standing commitment to this community,” said Patrick Quinton, the city’s economic development director.

“In addition to anchoring the Section 30 redevelopment that will attract hundreds of millions of dollars in private investment to the region, the company’s continued investment in Vancouver helps ensure our community has accessible and affordable jobs. well-paid and remains at the forefront of the innovation economy. “, he added.

Quinton said the city is committed to partnering with HP to make its new campus a reality.

HP, which makes printers and computers, has had a presence in Vancouver for decades, establishing a inkjet printer factory in the city in 1979.

The company previously occupied what is now the Vancouver Innovation Center in east Vancouver. It now operates at the nearby Columbia Tech Center.

But the city agreed to let the company move to a new campus in Section 30 in 2019.

HP is the 10th largest employer in the county, employing about 1,000 people here, according to the Columbia River Economic Development Council.

An HP spokesperson said construction was underway at the company’s Section 30 campus and the company still planned to move in 2026.

The public has until November 25 to comment on the new proposal.

The city hopes to have the application submitted to its planning commission early next year and to the city council next spring.

City spokesman Tim Becker said announcements about the planning commission and city council public hearings will be published in the newspaper and on the city’s website.
