London Underground: Viral video reveals dirt on seats

A video posted on social media has revealed how much dirt could be hiding in some subway seats.

The video, since removed by the user, was filmed on the North line by a cleaning company as part of a publicity stunt.

Steven James, who made the film and posted it on his company’s social media page, claimed “excessive” dirt was found while cleaning four subway seats.

It has been created and uploaded without permission from Transport for London (TfL).

TfL said making the video could have put other passengers at risk, due to the dangers of emptying a bucket of water onto a platform near the live rail.

A TfL spokesperson said its tube train cleaning program includes two different levels of cleaning: a daily cleaning before entering service and a deep cleaning every 28 days.
