A rāhui has been placed on part of the Wanganui River after a man was reported missing.

Police were alerted shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The dive team will be deployed Friday to assist in the search efforts.

The rāhui has been placed between Sparrows Cliff and the river mouth and will last for three days.
