The Tigers look to close out their season strong

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Savannah State football is just days away from ending their season, and they are looking to close it out strong.

The Tigers’ recent games have been anything but stress-free: Two weeks ago, they lost their homecoming game in overtime by just one point. Last Saturday, they had to play defense late to keep the game from slipping away. And while they’ll be the first to admit that the season hasn’t gone the way they hoped or planned, they only have one game left and they’re not going to waste this opportunity.

“We want to win,” head coach Aaron Kelton said. “We’re trying to finish the season strong and have it be a springboard for us for spring ball and for winter practices and different things like that, but also for these guys playing their last game, you want them send out on a winning note. Our guys want to play, they love to play, they love this game of football and they love to play for us here at Savannah State.

The Tigers will look to add one more win to their record and finish the season at 6-4 when they begin against Benedict College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
