The family bond is strengthened thanks to the passion for racing

Jeff Korol’s passion for auto racing was fueled by his father. When he was just a young teenager, his father helped fuel his passion.

“He was sponsoring race cars through his company and a good friend of ours owned a sprint car and I ended up fighting for him,” Jeff says.

And the same goes for Jeff’s daughter Chelsea.

“When he was about 15, he and his brother started racing. They built their own car and they raced it,” she said.

She started racing at age 15.

“We’ve been around cars my whole life, so street cars show things like that, and then we got into drag racing,” she says.

Chelsea, her father and her brother Matthew then built this car.

“My dad said it was time to sell our street rod. Let’s buy the Beretta so it was a rolling chassis, meaning the frame wasn’t together in the roll cage. The body was on it, but nothing else was put together,” she said.

In six months, they built it and took it to their first show.

It’s a day Jeff will never forget.

“I still remember that day. I know my son raced in that car. My daughter did it and there’s a lot of memories there,” Jeff said.

Memories Jeff continues to make – he still drives the car – but Chelsea has her own now.

It’s a 1963 Buick Special.

“My favorite thing is to do a burnout, just to have everything prepped and prepped,” she says.

She added that the bond she created with her father was strengthened through racing cars.

“Cars have always been that glue that has kept us united and close and that is something I will always be grateful for,” Chelsea said.
