Real Madrid may have found their long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, and that’s good news for Liverpool fans.

The January transfer window is fast approaching and Liverpool fans face an anxious wait with three key players yet to sign new contracts. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk And Mohamed Salah are all set to become free agents at the end of the season and will be able to begin talks with clubs outside of England in just a few months.

Right-back Alexander-Arnold is arguably the one fans are most concerned about given Real Madrid’s very public pursuit of the player. The La Liga giants have long been credited with their interest in the 26-year-old, but rumors have intensified in recent months due to his unresolved contract situation, as well as Carvajal’s injury which ended the season.

A report from ESPN appeared this week suggesting Real Madrid are considering signings in January and retain an interest in the Liverpool man. The increase in injuries in defensive areas has exacerbated the problem, but it has been admitted that a January deal with Liverpool for Alexander-Arnold would be a difficult task, so other options are also being explored .

Real Madrid could be enticed to look within their own ranks, and young right-back Jesus Foreta has made a strong case for a first-team debut. The 17-year-old joined the club’s academy from Atletico Madrid in 2022, in a deal which saw Los Blancos break a 15-year deal with their local rivals.

The non-aggression pact was put in place by the club’s presidents more than a decade ago to prevent either trying to recruit talent from the opposition’s academy. Two years ago, Atletico resigned themselves to losing one of their most talented prospects, and now the player’s recent performances in a Real Madrid shirt have caught the attention of senior coaches.

This is according to the Spanish media Sports Worldwho claim the youngster played a key role in the Under-19s’ crucial UEFA Youth League win over AC Milan earlier this week. He provided the assist for the first goal in the 2-1 triumph and scored the second from the penalty spot.

It has been suggested that his name has come up in recent weeks and Carlo Ancelotti has already brought him into the first team. After Lucas Vazquez struggled in the senior team Champions League After the defeat against AC Milan on Tuesday, Foreta could be called up sooner rather than later.
