When to plant snowdrop bulbs: for bright white flowers

Timing is everything when growing snowdrops. Planting bulbs too late in the year, as winter begins to set in, will result in flowering failure and disappointment, so it is important to get them into the ground quickly. As a former professional gardener, I have grown snowdrops in several private gardens across the UK and know that planting them at the right time is crucial.

Generally speaking, autumn is the time to plant bulbs, and whether you intend to grow snowdrops, tulips or daffodils, it is a good idea to plant in October and November, as the temperature drops but before the ground becomes too wet or frozen. So you still have a few weeks left to plant some.

Here I discuss the ideal time plant snowdrops bulbs in your garden for the best chance of success, helping you fill your borders and pots with vibrant white flowers during the coldest time of year.
