Kate’s 5 fun activities in and around Waterloo Region: November 8-10

It will feel like a fairly normal November weekend, with a sunny high of 8°C on Saturday and 11°C with rain on Sunday.

Musician Séan McCannformerly of Great Big Sea, will perform Friday evening at Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo.

Elmira Theater Company presents the comedy of Mark Crawford The birds and the beeswith shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

THE Kitchener Rangers are home Friday night to face the Soo Greyhounds, but are on the road Saturday (at Owen Sound) and Sunday (at Oshawa).

THE Guelph Storm I have two home games this weekend. Friday they host the Erie Otters and Sunday afternoon the London Knights are in town.

Tequila Fair

Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Bingemans, Kitchener

This one is pretty simple. The exhibit highlights tequila, other agave spirits as well as food. There will be tastings, an artisan market, live music and shows. Tickets are required.

Tailor-made Diwali market

Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Kitchener

This festival marks the Festival of Lights with vendors who will be offering various items including jewelry, fashion, home decor, food, exclusive teas, wellness products and much more. There will also be a children’s corner with treats and crafts, a photo booth and music.

Miss Scrooge

Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Guelph Little Theater

Guelph’s Penny and Pound Theater kicks off the holiday season with Miss Scroogea version of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Set in Depression-era New York City, the play follows a female Ebenezer Scrooge who is, of course, visited by three spirits.

The 8 p.m. show on Sunday is an all-you-can-eat show.

Buffalo Bills Tailgate

Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Gaslight Quarter, Cambridge

The Buffalo Bills will face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon in the NFL and if you can’t make it to the United States to enjoy the game, you can still enjoy a pre-game party.

The game will be broadcast on a large outdoor screen at the Gaslight District. People can bring their own food (or purchase from a local business), drinks, grills and decorations.

The event is free and rain or shine. After the Bills play the Colts, the Eagles vs. Cowboys game will be on the screen.

Holiday markets

The Christmas market season has started and there are quite a few to discover this weekend.

The Etsy Holiday Market will take place Saturday and Sunday at RIM Park in Waterloo. More than 100 creators are expected. Admission is $2 at the door. Facebook event page

Winterbourne Wonderland, a Christmas tea and market, will take place Saturday at Foundation Christian School in Woolwich Township. Facebook event page

A winter market will take place Saturday at the Willibald Farm Distillery and Brewery. Facebook event page

The annual Christmas Crafts and Crafts Sale will take place Saturday at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph. Facebook event page

The Stratford Sparkles Christmas Market will take place on Sunday at the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Unit in Stratford. There will be a free hot chocolate bar. Admission $3. Facebook event page
