Am I eligible to make changes to Medicare during open enrollment?

If you are one of the 67 million Americans over 65 who receive health coverage through Medicareyou are automatically eligible to make changes during the open enrollment period, which is currently happening. However, few beneficiaries could take advantage of this period to consider their options. A study of the 2021 open registration period found that 69% of respondents did not review their source of health insurance during this time.

The open enrollment period extends to the end of each year, offering Medicare beneficiaries the greatest flexibility to change their plans, regardless of their current situation. This period lasts just under two months and any changes you make during this period will take effect in the new year.
