Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Preview

Connor McDavid’s quick return was still not enough for Kris Knoblauch’s team to score two points on Wednesday night. The Oilers suffered their second straight loss, this time losing at home to their Pacific Division opponents, the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Canucks finished their three-game road trip to California in style as Rick Tocchet’s troops claimed victory, sweeping the West Coast trip. Vancouver held on and got a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks Predictions

After going goalless in his first 10 games, Zach Hyman is starting to take over, scoring three goals in the last four outings. The 32-year-old will look to maintain his pace and attempt to replicate last year’s output when he scored 54 goals.

Returning from injury, Connor McDavid was kept off the stat sheet against the Golden Knights, logging just over 21 minutes of ice time. By his standards, it’s a quiet start for the superstar who has only 10 points in 11 games.

Leon Draisaitl is yet to get on the scoreboard after posting back-to-back three-point performances. The 29-year-old has failed to score a goal or assist in his last two appearances, his longest drought of this young season.

Brock Boeser left Thursday’s game after receiving a hit to the head in the first period. The Canucks could do without the services of their top scorer who has six this year. In 490 career games under his belt, Boeser has accumulated 395 points.

Carrying his side on his back again, Quinn Hughes put on another dominant display on the ice. Last year’s Norris Trophy winner had a goal and an assist. The 25-year-old defenseman has eight points in his previous five games.

Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks Betting Tips

All signs seem to point to the home team supporting Saturday after their successful sweep in California. That said, the Oilers are a desperate team at the moment and they might need to restart a streak against a division foe.

There has been a lot of hatred between the two teams since last year’s playoff clash in the second round. After his brief absence from action, expect Connor McDavid to step up a gear after getting up to game speed on Wednesday night.

The Canucks have won five of the last six regular season games against the Oilers, but Edmonton will still be furious after blowing a 2-1 lead against Vegas, which could be bad news for the Canucks.
