“I’m a cutter, not a barber!” » – The boxer gets an impromptu haircut in the middle of a fight and still wins

What’s the strangest place you’ve had your hair cut?

It’s probably not in a boxing ring like middleweight Austin Deanda on Friday night.

Deanda goes to her corner after the third round

The 21-year-old suffered a hair disaster when his braids came loose while trading blows with opponent DeAundre Pettus, but he was determined to overcome it.

After the third round, while Deanda was sitting in the corner, he asked his team to “cut”, but to try to do it “evenly”.

The cutman continued, despite some initial hesitation, by responding: “I’m a cutman, not a barber!” »

Deanda’s luscious locks were then cut off mid-fight, leaving her with a buzz cut of sorts.

“The Native Nightmare” was unable to add another knockout to his previous ten, but he fought through eight grueling rounds to maintain his unbeaten record, now with 16 wins and ten knockouts.

The judges scored the fight a unanimous decision (77-75, 78-74, 77-75).

Deanda made the right choice in cutting his hair as he dented Pettus’ record, which now stands at 11-3.

The winner celebrated with a black cap covering his new trim, which may suggest it needs repair.

On the same card the lightweight champions Gervonta Davis and Denys Berinchyk were recalled by a victorious Keyshawn Davis.

He made quick work of Gustavo Lemos who lost weight by over six pounds.

The 25-year-old, fighting in his home town of Norfolk, Virginia, knocked down opponent Lemos three times in the second round before a marvelous left hook-right hand combination dropped the Argentine for the final time.

After the fight, Davis said: “I had no hesitation. Me and my team stuck to our guns. I didn’t feel any power in him. In fact, I sat on the ropes a quick second and I let him throw his overhand that he likes and I felt it on my shoulder.

“I looked at my brothers and gave them this ‘no, not enough (power)’ face. It ended in the second round, so maybe he didn’t really have a chance to hit me.

When asked what’s next, he replied: “A world title.” 2025 we have big plans for everyone in the boxing world. Ay Gervonta, knock knock.

Davis is now 12-0 with eight knockouts.

Another highlight of the evening came from lightweight Abdullah Mason (16-0, 14KO) who survived two first-round knockdowns to finish Yohan Vasquez in the second round.
