RCMP work to establish timeline in toddler’s death – Winnipeg Free Press

Members of the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit are going door to door in Ashern this weekend looking for information that could help the investigation into the death of little girl Xavia Skye Lynn Butler.

Xavia’s remains were found June 3 in an old barn off Highway 6 in the rural municipality of Grahamdale, about 250 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg. She is believed to have been between one and two years old when she died.

In an earlier statement, the RCMP said they were able to physically place Xavia a year before her remains were found, and that she was never reported missing. Survey efforts in Ashern are aimed at establishing a timeline of Xavia’s death, according to RCMP.

No charges have been filed and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

A sacred fire was lit for Xavia on Memorial Boulevard on Friday. It will continue to burn until midday Tuesday.

Anyone with information on the little girl or photos of her taken after March 2022 is asked to call the RCMP Major Crimes tip line at 431-489-8112.
