Crowds gather for the 4th annual Shore Good Truck Show and Pull

EASTON, Md. – Huge crowds gathered at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association grounds Saturday for the 4th annual Shore Good Truck Show and Pull.

When you dedicate your life to trucking, you take pride in what your truck can do. “It’s pride and power and pride, yeah. So you have the most horsepower, the biggest engine, King of the Hill kind of thing,” said Sonny Griffin, who has been a truck driver for more than 40 years.

Some came to display their trucks and others came to participate in the towing competition. Brandon Myers enjoyed the camaraderie: “A lot of the older guys here have been driving trucks for 40-plus years, so for young guys like me who have only been driving for 13 years, you know, you get a lot of knowledge, old stories and you just have a good time, you know.

Griffin said the “Shore Good” competition is a great experience and he plans to return next year with his own rig. “These guys, they’re going to work tonight. Tomorrow you will see these same trucks everywhere on the highways. I like it. It’s more realistic… It’s my first truck show of the year. I hadn’t done one this year and said I really wanted to see this one because I’ve never been. But I will definitely come back next year. But I’ll have a truck here.

For Myers, and many others, it felt like home. “I think some people are born to be astronauts. Some people are born to be conductors. I think for the most part, a lot of these guys, the older ones, were born to be truck drivers,” he said.
