In Gaza, residents condemn Hamas, in Canada, they are congratulated

It is long past time to end the terror that supports hateful gatherings on the streets of Canada.

In Gaza, residents go on television to denounce Hamas, and a prominent Islamic scholar has issued a fatwa against the terrorist group. In Canada, protesters in the streets continue to praise the group and idolize its leaders – living and dead.

Perhaps you have heard that a vigil is planned November 26 to celebrate Hamas terrorist leader Yahya Sinwar. She’s standing in Mississauga’s central square, next to city hall, on city property, and the mayor says there’s nothing that can be done.

“That would be called censorship, preferential treatment, judgment — the stifling of free speech which is something most Canadians value,” Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish told X last week, when asked about the event.

The last time she posted about censorship was to defend the Al Quds Day rally being held at Queen’s Park —just add that to the list of reasons why I didn’t think she was fit to be mayor. This vigil is meant to honor the fallen leader of a terrorist group banned in Canada, and Parrish can’t even be bothered to say she’s opposed to it.

She gave a bizarre interview to John Moore on Newstalk 1010, saying the group may not be real, but she wouldn’t condemn the celebration of Hamas leader Sinwar.

“If I see a Hamas terrorist, I will tear him to pieces,” a woman told Israel Channel 12. “Hamas took my own son!”

“May God take revenge on Hamas, they have ruined our lives,” another woman said. “May God take revenge on you Sinwar.”

Compare this to what is chanted or paraded in the streets of Canada.

Regularly, the leadership of Hamas or Hezbollah – two banned terrorist groups – is celebrated. For months, the face or image of Abu Obaida, the Hamas spokesperson, has appeared on the clothing, phone cases and paraphernalia of those participating in the protests and, more importantly, leading them.

This weekend, an activist identified as Ahmad Jarrar Hajahmad took to the streets of Toronto to praise Hamas and denounce Israel.

“Teach your children that the Zionist entity is the enemy. Teach your children that resistance (Hamas) is an honor. Teach your children that there is no country called Israel,” Hajahmad said.

Teaching these “ideals” to children will only lead to endless war.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Hajahmad has been a leader of protests in Toronto for months; he was also instrumental in setting up and supplying encampments at the University of Toronto, McGill University and the University of Ottawa. The leaders of the “pro-Palestinian” demonstrations, as most of my media colleagues still describe them, no longer hide the fact that they openly support Hamas. They make no secret of the fact that they want Israel to disappear.

“From Palestine to Lebanon, Israel will soon disappear,” chanted yahoos in the streets of Montreal last weekend.

Yes, linking Hezbollah, which has no land dispute with Israel – just pure hatred of Jews – with Hamas is the new thing protest groups need to do.

Meanwhile, every weekend, protesters in Toronto close main streets for their Islamic prayer or anti-Israel demonstrations. If a Catholic group, say Lebanese Maronite Catholics, decided to close a street or intersection in a major city for a mass in protest, there is no doubt that it would be closed and moved as it should. But this group is allowed to do what no one else can do.

There are many laws that police departments could use to stop this nonsense, but they have simply refused to do so because they don’t want to deal with this problem.

This is why the public is watching, increasingly frustrated, as they see the existence of a two-tiered police system.

Stop telling me about hate speech laws, your actions have shown that these are just “laws” meant to silence speech you don’t like, not anything to fight against hate speech. Stop talking to me about wanting to stop hate rallies, the authorities have let them continue for a year.

Official Canada now accepts support for terrorism; we, the people, are not.
