Vance plays second fiddle to Trump

JD Vance, known for his memoir Hillbilly Elegy, chronicling his journey from a modest upbringing in rural Ohio to political prominence, became a major figure in the MAGA movement. At just 40 years old, Vance’s vice presidential run makes him one of the youngest to ever hold the office and a clear favorite for the 2028 presidential race.

“JD Vance was clearly chosen as the heir apparent to the MAGA movement,” Bruen noted. Vance, he added, should “try to play an effective second fiddle,” working alongside Trump while positioning himself as the next leader of the movement.

Not everyone sees Vance as a simple successor to Trump

However, during the campaign, Vance faced criticism, with some calling him “clumsy” and even “just weird.” Tim Walz, Harris’ former running mate, echoed those sentiments.
