BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Rain was a welcome sight for our dry ground Sunday. While rain was widespread throughout north-central West Virginia, some places received a lot of it, while others received much less. The biggest “winners” have been locations near the I-79 corridor, but especially closer to the Ohio River. The highest rain totals, ~1.25″ to 1.50″, fell closest to the western border of West Virginia. Closer to I-79, many locations received around 1.00″ of rain, but in the mountains totals were closer to 0.25″ to 0.33″. Rain showers end before noon today in the mountains, then clouds lift to give way to sunshine this afternoon with highs in the lower 60s. Another cold front brings cool temperatures overnight, accompanied by clouds and light, patchy precipitation. It might even be cold enough in the mountains this evening to see a few snowflakes. The sun will return on Wednesday before the clouds return Wednesday evening and Thursday. Thursday is shaping up to be another rainy day here in our area. Rain is expected to be relatively widespread for much of the day. As of this writing, the forecast looks to hold about 0.33″ to 0.50″ of rain Thursday through Friday. A dry weekend with more sun than clouds. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the mid 50s and Sunday will be a bit milder.
