No one in our community should go hungry

CBC Kitchener-Waterloo’s annual campaign to raise food and funds for the Waterloo Region Food Bank will look a little different this year.

Our Make The Season Kind launch event will take place The evening edition — a roundup of the CBC morning show KW The morning edition with host Craig Norris.

When: Friday December 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

I, the Mountain is a four-piece indie-folk band from Kitchener with a passion for building community through music.

Mandippal

Mandippal is a singer-songwriter from Kitchener who mixes poetry and pop/rock.

local leader and Top Chef Canada Finalist Terry Salmond will give a cooking demonstration and talk about the work he does with Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region.

The evening also includes interviews with:

  • Kim Wilhelm, CEO of the food bank, and Amanda Stanzel, long-time volunteer.
  • Members of the Radha Krishna Mandir and Cultural Center.
  • Volunteer with Tiny Home Takeout and Food4Kids.

Volunteers from the Waterloo Region Food Bank will be on hand to collect your donations that evening, and you’ll also have the chance to meet the CBC KW team, including The morning editionThey are Craig Norris, Joe Pavia and Josette Lafleur.

Last year, the Sounds of the Season campaign raised more than $90,000.

Kim Wilhelm, CEO of the Waterloo Region Food Bank, says she has seen an increase in the number of people needing help this year and that trend is expected to continue through 2024.

Delicious dishes at low prices

Every year, a chef from the region comes along and offers ideas for delicious dishes, to be made from canned or boxed products or for very little money.
