Meteor shower at night

The Taurid meteor shower peaks tonight! These meteors are known to be large and bright, but they are not very common. Remember to go to a dark place, away from light pollution, for a better view.

COLDER AIR COMING

Sweater time is back! A series of cold fronts will move into the region by mid-week, causing temperatures to plummet. Highs won’t reach the 50s and 60s until Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday we’re only looking at high temperatures in the 40s and 50s. It’s about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than normal.

Wednesday morning will see the air at its coldest, with lows between 20 and 30 degrees.

FIRST ALERT: Freezing and freezing conditions are likely Wednesday morning.

RISK OF RAIN THURSDAY

Our upcoming cold front will bring increased rain chances to the area Thursday through Friday.

Although details are still sketchy at this point, early data shows rain chances will increase Thursday afternoon and last through Thursday evening.

If precipitation arrives early, there could even be a brief spell of wintry weather early in the West Virginia mountains.
