Abu Dhabi: Chairman of the Shura Council, HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, underlined the State of Qatar’s commitment to the unity of the Gulf ranks, supporting the Gulf’s joint action, consolidating the values ​​and preserving the identity of the Gulf in a way that contributes to building a promising future for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

This came during His Excellency’s speech at the 18th Meeting of Their Excellencies the Presidents of the Shura, Representatives, National Councils and Ummah of the GCC Countries, held on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates .

His Excellency said that the State of Qatar, with its wise leadership, is committed to unity among the ranks of the Gulf, strengthening joint Gulf action and preserving the authentic identity of the Gulf, which reflects the heritage and culture of the GCC countries.

In this context, he highlighted the role of the Shura Council and its continued efforts to strengthen joint Gulf parliamentary work, following his presidency of the 17th meeting of Shura Speakers, Representatives, National Councils and the GCC Umma. countries, with fruitful cooperation between Member States, which has contributed to achieving several common objectives aimed at raising the level of cooperation at all levels.

His Excellency also highlighted the interest and role of the Shura Council in strengthening Gulf joint action and preserving the Gulf identity, referring to the seminar organized by the Council during its presidency, which addressed this important issue and resulted in recommendations focused on protecting the Gulf identity and strengthening cultural and social ties between the people of the GCC countries.

HE the President of the Shura Council stressed that these efforts aim to strengthen Gulf integration in a way that meets the aspirations of citizens of the GCC countries.

In a related context, His Excellency highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy to support the external relations of the GCC countries, noting that this diplomacy provides the opportunity to clarify the positions of the Gulf countries and to raise the voice of Gulf citizens internationally. community that supports the common interests of the GCC countries.

His Excellency addressed the developments in the Palestinian question, in light of the ongoing Israeli war, emphasizing the Council’s support for the Palestinian question and the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem- Is as capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.

HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim underlined the importance of the Gulf’s continued parliamentary support for the rights of the Palestinian people, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to end the crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement committed by the forces Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip in 2017, and to take all measures to prosecute and hold this entity and its leaders accountable for committing these crimes.

Regarding the Lebanese issue, HE the President of the Shura Council expressed condemnation of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, calling for the need to force Israel to respect the resolutions of international legitimacy to protect lives and ensure security in the region.

Concluding his speech, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council congratulated HE the member of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi on his election as President of the Arab Parliament, stressing that this step represents a real opportunity to strengthen the pioneering role of the UAE at the Arab parliamentary level, helps support Gulf positions on vital issues affecting the region and supports joint parliamentary work.

HE the Speaker of the Shura Council expressed confidence in the success of the UAE in leading the current session of the meeting, hoping that these efforts will contribute to strengthening cooperation among the GCC countries and realizing the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC.

For their part, the presidents of the Gulf legislative councils highlighted in their speeches at the meeting the importance of strengthening Gulf integration, responding to the need to develop Gulf parliamentary work and unifying efforts to support important regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian issue.

Their Excellencies, the Presidents of the Gulf Legislative Councils discussed a number of topics related to strengthening the Gulf’s joint parliamentary cooperation, in addition to discussing regional and international challenges facing the region.

They also reviewed the recommendations of the 19th consultative meeting of the Parliamentary Coordination Committee, which aims to unify positions among the Gulf legislative councils, and adopted mechanisms to strengthen relations with the European Parliament and Latin American parliaments , emphasizing the importance of coordination among Gulf countries. efforts in international forums to support issues of common concern, particularly the Palestinian issue, in addition to calling for intensifying international efforts to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and end Israeli escalation in the occupied territories.
