Raptors share unfortunate Immanuel Quickley injury update

Immanuel Quickley will miss at least a week with an elbow injury.

The Toronto Raptors announced that Quickley suffered a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Quickley will be out for at least a week before being re-evaluated by the team’s medical staff.

It’s the latest blow for the Raptors, who have been ravaged by injuries this season and just saw Quickley return from a pelvic contusion that forced him to miss eight straight games after the season opener. from Toronto.

The Raptors will only play three games next week starting Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks. They return home on how the Detroit Pistons on Friday and the Indiana Pacers on Monday before Quickley’s status is updated.

Without Quickley, Toronto will turn to Davion Mitchell to handle primary point guard responsibilities with Jamal Shead on the bench. Shead had seen his minutes decrease over the last two games with Quickley back healthy.

The Raptors are already without Scottie Barnes, Ja’Kobe Walter, Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk, with no definitive timetable for the return of any of the four. Toronto began the season without RJ Barrett, who was also dealing with an AC joint injury.

Given Toronto’s upcoming schedule, it’s hard to see the Raptors having much success over the next few years with Barnes and Quickley both sidelined. Toronto already has the worst record in the NBA as of Tuesday night and it’s likely the Raptors will continue to struggle for the rest of the month.
