Lakers’ Anthony Davis says his eye is ‘fine’, plans to play Wednesday – Orange County Register

EL SEGUNDO — Lakers star Anthony Davis said after Tuesday’s practice that his left eye is “fine” and that he will be available for Wednesday night’s home game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that Davis had his eye examined by an ophthalmologist on Monday, with Davis saying he was cleared to play.

“Nothing happens after that,” Davis said, with his left eye looking particularly red. “I live my days like I would any other day. I have nothing to do. The next step is to get some more sleep and get ready for (Wednesday).

Davis’ status in recent days has been uncertain after being ruled out early in the season. fourth quarter of Sunday night’s home win over the Toronto Raptors due to an eye injury he suffered blocking Raptors center Jakob Poeltl midway through the third.

Poeltl hit Davis in the eye as Davis blocked his dunk.

Davis immediately fell to the field and was writhing in pain before team doctors checked him out. He went to the locker room and did not return to the Lakers bench for the rest of the game.

The All-Star big man suffered a corneal abrasion in his left eye on March 16 of last season, but played in the Lakers’ next game.

He also suffered an injury to his left eye on April 7, which forced him to miss a game.
