Palisades Tahoe to expand traffic reduction initiatives for 2024-25 season

Palisades Tahoe is expected to continue its successful traffic reduction initiatives for the 2024-2025 ski season, including the return of its parking reservation program. The program, along with other measures, reduced local road traffic by 22,698 vehicles and reduced CO2 emissions by 239 tonnes last season.

“We are committed to helping provide solutions to the traffic and transportation congestion problems that have existed for decades in our region and are encouraged by the results we saw last season,” said Mike Martin, vice president of base operations.

Resort initiatives include free weekday parking, weekend and holiday parking reservations, expanded Mountaineer microtransit services and incentive parking shuttles. Mountaineer microtransit will extend its schedule at Alpine Meadows and add an additional van on weekends and holidays to increase capacity.

The Palisades Tahoe Express Shuttle will offer faster trips to the resort, allowing guests to arrive in time for the first chair before 9 a.m. Additionally, Park & ​​Ride service from Truckee and Tahoe City will continue, with customers receiving a $10 food and beverage voucher. to use the service.

Martin also stressed the importance of advancing worker housing in the Valley and creating new employee parking spaces, which will be discussed in an upcoming Placer County Board of Supervisors vote on Nov. 19.
