Emmerdale fans ‘develop’ John’s ‘real’ identity in stolen identity case | Television and radio | Showbiz and television

Emmerdale fans have been swirling with theories since John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) mysterious arrival in the village, with many questioning his “real” identity and links to the village.

Speculation is rife among viewers that John is not who he says he is and may have no legitimate connection to Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).

On social media, one eagle-eyed fan suggested: “I think I figured out what’s going on with John, I think he’s connected with Robert but not in the way he says… I think that he was in prison with him and that he loved him or hated him, and he came to Emmerdale being with Aaron because of everything that was going on inside.

“Robert is mentioned too many times for there not to be a storyline coming up about it… I think Robert is released and when he comes back he sees John and everything comes out… Just my theory.”

This theory sparked further debate, with another follower suggesting a stolen identity angle: “I think it’s a stolen identity and the real brother is dead, I wish Robert would come back but I read that it is not yet planned for him to do so.”

“Eric Pollard knows he’s John Sugden,” said another, reports Leeds live.

Discussion on Robert Sugden’s potential return to Emmerdale also heated up: “Well, Robert is apparently coming back,” claimed one fan, while another expressed a desire for his return: “I would love for Robert to come back.”

Robert Sugden was a prominent figure in Emmerdalehaving last been performed by Ryan Hawley.

The character left the stage in 2019 after being incarcerated for the death of Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), despite a dramatic return in October 2014.

In a twist of fate on ITV EmmerdaleAaron Dingle (Danny Miller) was stunned to learn that Rebecca White (Emily Head) had died, leaving little Seb motherless and in the care of Rebecca’s aunt.

Fans were reminded that Robert, Aaron’s former flame and Seb’s father, is in prison. The shocking news about Rebecca was casually announced by her ex Ross Barton, actor Michael Parr.

The bombshell left Aaron in turmoil, wondering why he or Robert’s sister Victoria hadn’t been chosen to look after Seb. During a tender conversation, Victoria assured Aaron that Robert still considered him Seb’s beloved “second father”, even though Seb needed the stable home of Rebecca’s parent.

To add to the drama, this emotional exchange between Victoria and Aaron was unintentionally overheard by John, Aaron’s current romantic interest, who, in an unforeseen revelation, happens to be Robert and Victoria’s long-lost half-brother.

John attempted to delve into the saga with Victoria, but she directed him to Aaron for answers. In a recent episode, Aaron reluctantly opened up to John about Robert, but when John pressed further on Aaron’s feelings, overcome with emotion, Aaron stormed off.

Emmerdale broadcast weekdays at 7:30 p.m.
