Gill was scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in the town of Milton on Wednesday.

Gill, believed to be an associate of pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed on June 18 last year in Surrey, British Columbia, is considered a terrorist by the Indian government, although these accusations have not been tested in a Canadian court.

In recent years, India has also repeatedly requested Gill’s extradition, but this request has not been honored by Canadian authorities.

Gill was one of two people arrested by Halton Regional Police on Oct. 28 in connection with a shooting.

According to a release from the Halton Regional Police Service or HRPS at the time, Guelph police contacted him early on the morning of Oct. 28, after two men went to the hospital. One was treated and released for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, apparently suffered in Halton Region. The other was not injured.

The HRPS Major Crime Bureau is currently investigating and both men have been arrested, the release said.

Those arrested were not identified by name, but were a 25-year-old resident of Halton Hills and a 28-year-old resident of Surrey, British Columbia. They were both charged with intentionally discharging a firearm.

Both accused were detained pending their bail hearing on Wednesday.

He was identified as Arshdeep Gill in court. He was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing/show cause hearing.

Arsh Dalla, accused of involvement in targeted killings, terror financing and extortion in Punjab, was designated a terrorist in January last year by the Indian government.

He is accused in various cases under the National Investigation Agency or NIA, which raised the issue with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the RCMP in 2022.

Indian authorities also accused Gill of being associated with or even assuming leadership of the Khalistan Tiger Force or KTF after Nijjar’s assassination. These allegations have not been tested in a Canadian court.
