I-10 is closed at the Loop 1604 interchange on the northwest side this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Driver Attention: The eastbound and westbound main lanes of Interstate 10 at the Loop 1604 interchange on the northwest side will be closed this weekend.

But it won’t be that bad.

The eastbound main lanes of Loop 1604 will be closed Friday evening only and will remain open from 5 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  • The four cloverleaf-shaped ramps (from Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.)

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the closures will allow crews to install steel beams and continue construction of flyover ramps at the interchange. The steel girder work is currently 76% complete with 115 girders in place. The first flyover ramp is expected to open by the end of the year, connecting eastbound Loop 1604 drivers to westbound I-10.

Access to businesses will remain open during the work and law enforcement will contribute to the smooth flow of traffic at intersections. The closures could open sooner if the work is completed and the road is safe for drivers, TxDOT said.
